 The PF Headquarters HR team is searching for a Chief People Officer, Corporate Clubs.

About the Role:

The HR team is looking for a Chief People Officer, Corporate Clubs to work closely with the senior leadership team to develop the strategy necessary to create consistent world class human resources programs closely linked and in support of, Planet Fitness brands’ positioning. You will report directly to the President Corporate Clubs, and as a key member of the senior team, you will collaborate with the President and other executives to develop and execute HR strategies designed to support employees at all levels of the organization, driving a culture of exceptional service and high levels of performance. 

The ideal candidate will already reside in or will be willing to relocate to the Orlando, FL area and will be able to travel in the field and to Planet Fitness Headquarters. You should be a thought leader who fosters an environment of continuous learning and development. You will lead a team of two direct reports, including Director, HR Corporate Clubs and Director, Learning and Leadership, with a total team of approximately eight. To be successful in this role, you will ensure the organization’s mission and values are upheld as the company’s business plans and initiatives are executed.

In this role you will:

Executive Leadership: 

  • Act as Cultural Ambassador and effective change agent as part of the Senior Leadership Team ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment as the evolution of the organization continues.
  • Act as a strategic ally, sounding board, and confidante to the President.
  • Establish a dynamic succession planning process to meet future executive needs of the organization.
  • Provide a human resource perspective to the executive team encompassing strategic business planning, competitive positioning, and people philosophy.
  • Provide leadership, inspiration, guidance, and counsel to the human resources team and maintaining a high level of motivation and morale, attracting, and retaining top quality talent, evaluating, and managing performance, and providing constructive and direct feedback.
  • Foster an environment of continuous learning and development.
  • Remain abreast of trends in the fitness, franchising, and service industries.

HR Strategy and Execution: 

  • Leading a team of two direct reports including Director, HR Corporate Clubs and Director Learning and Leadership, with a total team headcount of approximately 8, responsibilities include: 
  • Plan, develop, organize, direct, and deliver all human resource processes and programs to support the overall vision and success of the organization.
  • Lead and supervise HR department providing services related to employee relations, onboarding, HR policy/procedure, employee information/data management, talent acquisition, leadership development, performance management.
  • Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs in partnership with Director of Total Rewards.
  • Ensure employee relations matters are fully supported, investigated, documented, and resolved in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Oversee talent acquisition and talent development to continually attract, retain and grow top talent that is representative of our communities.
  • Ensure compliance of HR policy/procedure, applicable local/state/federal labor laws and required reporting obligations in partnership with PFHQ human resources.
  • Lead and drive a “service centered” company culture focused on great member and team member experiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Drive organizational change through effective coaching, mentoring, communication, and change processes.

 About You:

  • Resides in or is willing and able to relocate to the Orlando, FL area, with travel to the field and PFHQ, as required 
  • B.S. or B.A. required, with an Advanced Degree preferred 
  • HRCI or SHRM certification preferred 
  • 15+ years of progressive experience culminating in a top (#1 or #2) position in human resources for a multi-unit business 
  • Experience leading human resources activities of a large, multi-unit, multi-state, multi-faceted corporation with distributed workforce 
  • Experience in a public company environment with an understanding of the dynamics of that environment with a well-developed strategy of how to approach the people challenges facing public companies today 
  • Experience utilizing technology to enhance employment brand, associate experience, and engagement, as well as automating people reporting requirements 
  • Leadership coaching expertise to support senior leadership development needs; experience working with a founder-led organization would be beneficial 
  • Experience building strong relationships with senior management and other key employees 
  • Significant collaboration and influencing skills: experience working with franchisees, distributors, bottlers, licensees, or other non-employee stakeholders is helpful 
  • Experience is acquisitions, mergers, or divestitures is helpful 
  • Strong focus on strategic operational people planning to include organizational design, talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, management and effectiveness, leadership development and succession planning with additional exposure/responsibility for other sub-disciplines 
  • A high level of energy and intellectual curiosity and responsiveness to keep up with a fast-paced, high-energy President and executive leadership team 
  • Courage to champion people specific causes and willingness to collaborate with the team for the best outcome
