Burkland Associates is looking for experienced People Partners to architect and pioneer high-performing, and engaging People & Talent programs for our clients while building Burkland Associates’ new People Operations Practice.

People Business Partner

This is an ideal role for a People Ops Business Partner who is eager to broaden their reach and impact by working closely with high-growth startup CEOs and Founders as a fractional People Partner. As a People Partner, you will help clients derive their unique culture and build a People Ops infrastructure that will help them scale quickly while maintaining their distinct values and cultural DNA.

What you’ll Do

  • As a People Partner, you will gain a deep understanding of clients’ business goals and people, and act as a trusted People Leader as well as a strategic HR project manager on all things People – this includes but is not limited to implementing programs that play to all your strengths and experience; core values, purpose and strategy alignment, goal setting and performance measurement designing and implementing talent branding, recruiting, building DEI culture, total rewards selection, and implementation, employee relations, leadership development, and coaching, change and communication management, organizational development, training development, resource planning, policy and risk management.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and other members of the client’s Executive Team providing experience, insight, innovative ideas, and data-driven solutions on critical HR issues including People, Talent, Culture, and Communication.
  • Establish the channels and cadence of communications to inform, engage, connect and inspire the client’s community. Advise on, draft, publish and present content that amplifies their mission, vision, goals, and ways of working.
  • Establish and continuously evolve scalable, lightweight, and progressive policies and processes to improve onboarding, organizational effectiveness, employee development, and engagement.
  • Identify and help build employer brand, recruiting strategy, and hiring processes to efficiently and effectively attract world-class talent and rapidly scale the organization
  • Design competitive, fair, and equitable compensation structures and benefits to support the client’s compensation philosophy while attracting and retaining great people.
  • Champion DEI efforts and programs.
  • Automate process and leverage best-in-class technology to scale the People Ops organization and its people programs to achieve high engagement and great outcomes.
  • Design and optimize people systems, benefit programs, compensation processes, and compliance that can support multistate, bifurcated workforces for the client.  
  • Be an ambassador, constantly evangelizing what makes Burkland special to grow our client base.
  • Strive to achieve your goal of a number of billable client hours every week, splitting your time each week on client-specific work, and managing your partners, support team, and resources.

Experience

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent. If you do not have this certification, you must be willing to take and pass the PHR within your first 12 months of employment.
  • Experience as a Sr. People Ops Generalist or People Business Partner at one or more enterprise software companies that have experienced hyper-growth. 
  • Experience working within a startup under 50 people or less is preferred.
  • Clear and inspiring communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence people at all levels both internally and externally to grow client base, partnerships, and recruit future reports. You love your work and people pick up on your passion.
  • Drive and resourcefulness with a keen interest in advanced analysis, research, and comfort presenting in front of Executive Leadership, Boards as well as contributors at all levels.
  • Dexterity to juggle multiple clients, projects, and deadlines at a time in an organized and timely fashion.
  • The instinct to establish priorities and meet deadlines both within and outside your direct control of influence.
  • Aptitude to evaluate and implement new technologies and nimbleness to easily adapt to client’s Business stack and People Ops stack.
  • Previous experience working at a SaaS software, Consumer, or Fintech company. Merger/ Acquisition or IPO experience is a plus.
  • Prior consulting experience is preferred but not required if you have supported a complex matrix organization.
