Title: Chief People Officer

Reporting To: CEO

Preferred Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

Role Overview: 

As our first Chief People Officer (CPO), you will drive the people strategy for Foundry and lead and oversee lead all aspects of the People Function across the business. You will serve as a thought leader, strategic partner, and internal consultant to the leadership team. Advising on key and critical organizational opportunities and areas, including organizational design, workforce planning, talent acquisition, diversification of resourcing approaches, employee engagement, total rewards, diversity, equity & inclusion, people operations and analytics. Additionally, you will play a critical role in owning and driving the People strategy in all acquisitions. Reporting to the CEO, you will serve as a collaborative, hands-on member of the Executive Team by designing and executing on strategic organizational roadmaps to ensure the Company meets its aggressive growth plans. You will play an integral role in strengthening Foundry’s capacity to innovate at every level of the organization and help move  our key initiatives forward.   

Responsibility: 

As our Chief People Officer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Proactively lead and manage our talent acquisition strategy, org design and workforce planning that enables us to hire quickly while maintaining a high bar. 
  • Create and maintain a competitive approach to attracting and hiring high-potential diverse talent that will succeed in a fully distributed, high-growth start-up environment 
  • Provide innovative solutions, approach to a distributed culture and organization, driving productivity and connection across the globe  
  • Develop, launch and maintain a comprehensive approach to employee onboarding, development & retention including: competitive compensation, benefits & perks, career growth paths to support individual goals and the needs of the company 
  • Create, model and evangelize our company values to support business objectives and people programs, including performance management practices, learning and development, and establishing individual and team OKRs 
  • Establish and implement People team efforts that effectively communicate and support the company's mission and strategic vision. 
  • Act as a strategic partner and coach to the Executive Leadership Team, providing innovative thinking and problem solving on critical People issues 
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for the members of the People and broader management team (The People Team currently has 3 Team Members) 
  • Overall responsibility for state and local employment compliance including the Employee Handbook, various reporting obligations, and required legal notifications and submissions 
  • Provide consulting for personnel matters as they arise and is adept at coaching and influencing all levels of the organization 
  • Provide direction and iterate upon current systems and tools related to People Operations, which may include evolving current systems in place or adding additional to support the scale and growth of the organization 
  • Drive and lead the People integration strategy and key deliverables in all Acquisitions  
  • Provide expertise, advice and guidance in diverse resourcing approaches, such as off-shoring or near-shoring 
  • Partner with team to develop and maintain reliable metrics and reporting to provide early insight into critical areas related to employee hiring, engagement, retention, and success of programs 
  • Contribute functional updates and plans to a variety of executive briefings and board meeting 
  • Attend monthly in person Executive Leadership Team meetings as well as all company gatherings throughout the year  

Requirements: 

What you bring to the role…. 

  • 10+ years of HR, talent management, recruiting, organizational, or leadership development experience with a track record of rapidly scaling high-growth technology companies 
  • 3-5 years of senior leadership HR experience supporting Executive level roles within the Organization 
  • Strong attractor of talent and proven record of retaining, developing and growing team members 
  • Prior tech, online, e-commerce retail experience preferred 
  • Growth stage company experience, including scaling teams rapidly across multiple locations 
  • Led year over year workforce and headcount planning exercises 
  • Significant experience driving Organizational Design and differentiated resourcing approaches 
  • Experience developing People related plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives 
  • Have worked with the company's leadership team to establish a successful employee development and succession plan that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company 
  • Developed and implemented comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective. 
  • Are highly knowledgeable around progressive employee practices and programs  
  • Initiated comprehensive strategic talent acquisition, management and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of business goals. 
  • Experience creating a mission-drive culture where DEI best practices drive company values and processes 
  • Have functioned as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management across multiple functions 
  • Experience with M & A, including the merging of payroll, benefits, compliance, and supporting different employment models and integration scenarios.  
  • Ability to operate at the strategic level, coupled with the willingness to manage the day-to-day aspects of the People practice and function 
  • Proven track record resolving complex employee challenges  
  • Proven-strategies to support a dispersed, remote-centered culture
