Imagine if there was something we could all change today that would reduce global warming by 10%. That’s how much food waste contributes to the climate crisis, and yet we continue to waste 40% of all food in the US. 

At Too Good To Go, we dream of a planet with no food waste. Our app connects consumers to surplus food that would otherwise be thrown away from local restaurants and grocery stores, such as pastries, fresh produce, sushi and more. Each meal rescued is equivalent to the carbon footprint from charging one smartphone fully 422 times. 

Already available in 17 international markets including Paris, London, Copenhagen, Madrid, Toronto and Amsterdam, Too Good To Go has quickly become the go-to for eco-conscious consumers and businesses around the world, resulting in more than 44 million app downloads and over 91 million meals saved to date. 

We launched our US operations just over one year ago, and the results have exceeded our expectations! During this short time, we have 5,000 active stores on the platform, saved over 1 Million meals and built a team of 150+ Waste Warriors that is actively growing. 

Your mission

No matter what we do, we are above all a people-driven company. We need someone who can work on the day-to-day operations, as well as create and deliver a compelling People & Culture vision and strategy for the longer term.

You’ll report directly to the US Country Manager and will be part of a supportive global People & Culture team.

Your role

This is a great challenge for an innovative People & Culture professional who can act as an expert partner to the US management team in a fast-paced, growth environment and take responsibility for ensuring a first-class employee experience.

You will be responsible for providing leadership on all things people and culture related, developing structures and strategies to support the team as it rapidly grows, including:

  • Inspire & Empower: Design and lead strategic people projects in line with our core values, establish learning and development plans, champion DE&I initiatives, and ensure legal compliance.
  • Leadership Development: Coach leaders on how to design, build and develop high performing teams, including goal-setting, performance enablement and people development.
  • Learning and People Growth: Put in place high-impact (and cost-effective) solutions to develop internal talent.
  • Employee Experience: Ensure an optimal experience at every touch-point in the life cycle.
  • Talent Acquisition: Work closely with key stakeholders and the Talent Acquisition function to build a rock-star hiring strategy to shape the right teams and contribute to optimal hiring decisions.
  • Owning and improving upon our people management systems (including onboarding, reviews, feedback, and promotions) that help retain a world-class team

A true people person, who will be supported by multiple P&C managers across various regions and time zones within the US.  

Requirements

  • Substantial experience across the whole employee lifecycle, including experience with contracts, payroll processing, leadership development, talent management, compensation & benefits, and employment relations.
  • Strong understanding of U.S Labour Laws and experience collaborating closely with legal teams. 
  • Established experience managing medium to large teams, across different department functions within people and culture, locally and globally.
  • Experience with heavy recruitment and people on-boarding.
  • Expertise in leading diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives.
  • Experience with BCorp initiatives is beneficial.
  • Ideally, you have developed a People function in a scale-up, fast-growth business.
  • Ability to travel as needed (10%-15% ) open to travel outside the U.S.
  • Full Vaccination against Covid19 (unless granted a religious or medical exemption)

  • A natural mentoring style and comfortable training managers and employees on a range of soft skills.
  • Ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of an overall business strategy.
  • Ability to solve problems and communicate ideas in a structured and engaging way.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across all levels.
  • It would also be great if you have a HR certification, such as an SPHR or SHRM-SCP.
  • A true passion for sustainability and fighting food waste is a MUST - you understand the urgency of action for the planet.
