About the job

Blue Bottle is writing a new chapter to the story and traditions of coffee and hospitality, and the People Relations Business Partner will help us build the company and culture to do it. This is an amazing opportunity to establish and drive the employee relations and HR compliance elements at one of the fastest-growing specialty coffee and consumer brands in the world. You will:

  • Manage and address (end-to-end) all escalated employee relations situations across multiple business groups
  • Provide Employee Relations support, thought partnership, and coaching for all team members and levels of management in the organization
  • Coordinate and work with cross-functional partners in the People Business Partner, Training, and Learning & Development teams to implement solutions and help scale the business
  • Liaise with legal teams (internal and external) for guidance and resolution on sensitive issues
  • Craft and distribute data analysis and reporting solutions based on business needs, highlighting key trends in employee relations to actively drive proactive solutions to minimize reactive work 
  • Oversee all aspects of the anonymous employee concern reporting and conflict of interest reporting tools 
  • Design, implement, and oversee all HR compliance, employment policies and processes (to include but not limited to: company, local, state and federal laws, etc) in North America
  • Lead projects and programs, including creating communications, training materials, and other change management mechanisms to educate stakeholders on new and revised policies, processes, and programs.
  • Proactively and effectively address complex people issues; mitigating risk and managing situations that result in the best possible outcomes for the company, teams, and people 
  • Provide subject matter expertise and ensure organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to employment/labor laws.
  • Consistently review and update existing processes, systems, and policies for improvement
  • Proactively assess team and manager development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions
  • Support the design and facilitate Manager Training based on data analysis
  • Partner closely with regional People Partners and parent company, Nestle, on strategy and execution

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, rapidly changing environments, and building from scratch

  • Have a great sense of humor, high sense of humility, and insatiable curiosity

You have:

  • 6+ years of Employee Relations, HR Business Partner or equivalent experience
  • Experience in project management, change management and creating programs 
  • Demonstrated solid judgment and experience assisting risk relative to the business
  • Expertise in drafting, validating and sharing out policies
  • Experience using data to identify insights that drive action
  • Strong grasp of US and state-specific labor/employment law and practices, especially related to non-exempt workforce 
  • Great understanding of employment/labor laws for the areas in which we operate
  • Prior success in implementing HR policies and strategy from the ground up in global and/or matrix organizations who are scaling
  • BA/BS Degree in related field preferred
  • Last but not least, a deep love for great coffee, food, and exceptional customer experiences

  • This role requires travel up to 10%. Additional walking, stooping, sitting, and mobility may be required. Exposure to outside environmental elements may be experienced due to travel through airports, airplanes, and in between facilities
