We’re looking for a dedicated and talented Chief Talent Officer to become part of our Foundation Academies Team.

You are a culture builder with a strong track record in managing change and maintaining and improving the quality of our people as we scale. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, The Chief Talent Officer (CTO) will play a pivotal role in the organization, designs and implements a vision for the Talent team. You are not about the “status quo,” but are a disrupter who encourages continuous learning and interrogation of how things are done. You are a facilitative leader who is curious and who can co-design a vision with people at all levels of the organization, and capture that vision in a talent strategic plan. The CTO will be highly skilled at integrating Foundation Academies’ diversity, equity, and inclusion beliefs and values throughout the organization through innovative and community-responsive practices that broaden and advance the staff member experience.  

Reporting to the CEO and directly managing the Director of Talent Recruitment and the Talent Operations Associate, the CTO will lead work in the following areas:

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

  • Create and execute a strong strategic plan that promotes equity for adults in our highest priority areas
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications Associate to ensure compelling outreach efforts to diverse pools of candidates that closely mirror our student population, school communities, and position at Foundation Academies as an ‘employer of choice’ for strong candidates
  • Plan, design, and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and programs that train the organization to live up to Foundation Academies core values
  • Lead the planning of future Anti-Racism education planning for the organization

Recruitment & Retention

  • Coach and manage the Director of Talent Recruitment to establish an overarching vision for talent acquisition and a best-in-class recruitment strategy that reflects our DEI goals 
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications Associate to ensure compelling outreach efforts to diverse pools of candidates that closely mirror our student population, school communities, and position at Foundation Academies as an ‘employer of choice’ for strong candidates
  • Ensure that the recruitment and selection process and tools support effective, consistent and equitable hiring across the organization
  • Refine the organization’s onboarding program to ensure new hires have a smooth and productive initial experience that is consistent across the organization
  • Responsible for establishing and driving goals and tactics that improve staff retention

Performance Management

  • Establish a cohesive vision for paths for career progression, and succession planning for Foundation Academies that is equitable and aligned to our core beliefs 
  • Design Foundation Academies’ promotion and retention philosophy, factoring in key elements such as rewards, recognition, engagement, and satisfaction
  • Develop a robust performance management strategy tied to quantitative and qualitative organizational goals, building upon the organization’s current annual review process

Human Resources

  • Work closely with the CEO and COO to ensure Foundation Academies’ compliance with all federal, state, and local laws 
  • Stay abreast of HR law/policy trends that could impact Foundation Academies’ ability to execute on its mission and growth plan. Propose and implement solutions to mitigate potential threats 
  • Develop differentiated licensure support in partnership with the credentialing team, educators, school leaders, and external agencies to comply with state laws overall strengthening teacher retention

Qualification

  • A minimum of 5+ years of progressively increasing management experience in the context of a growing organization or business, including at least three of the functional domains of the CTO role
  • Proven track record of navigating complex issues, managing multiple stakeholders, making decisions, and driving results
  • Experience managing multiple functions and working knowledge of HR fundamentals
  • Mission and cultural fit 
  • Ability to quickly and effectively build relationships, motivate and engage a diverse group of stakeholders
  • A history of successful leadership, teamwork, effective management, and extensive track record of achieving impressive results, both individually and through others 
  • Balances data, wisdom, experience, and judgement to make sound decisions aligned with our organizational culture and values
  • Demonstrates continuous learning and a desire for feedback
  • Pass the required criminal history background check and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Supporting/Additional Documents Requested

  • Semifinalist candidates will be required to provide unofficial transcripts, evidence of certification/eligibility, and 3 professional references. 
  • Hired candidates are responsible for the following: official transcripts, criminal clearance (fingerprinting), and medical clearance (TB/Mantoux testing).

Compensation

Salary range: $115,000 - $125,000

Compensation is commensurate with experience in a similar role and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This role is an exempt, full time, 12 month, salaried position. 

Key Working Relationships: Senior Leadership Team Members, Principals, School Business Administrator, Facilities Manager, Administrative Assistants, Teachers, and Board Members.
