The Role: 

This role will shape and define the overall People Ops and Technology team strategy and operating model. You will have the opportunity to shape the strategy and adapt an existing operating team/model to be best in class. You will be the critical leader in designing and implementing systems and processes that scale. You are adept at driving efficient, repeatable processes that generate consistent results. You effectively prioritize the day to day running of the business and figuring out ways to automate, reduce friction, and increase quality. You have a strong understanding of HR fundamentals and you understand the technical side of HR, such as compliance and employment law requirements. This role is a key leadership role for Morning Consult’s People team and reports to the Head of People.

  • Depth of expertise in HR compliance, employment law, systems and process design

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • People and Team Management scale the current team in line with the organizational growth projected team of 3-4 by end of 2022 across multiple countries
  • Org design to enable effective leverage and coverage in geos
  • HR Technology serves as product owner for all operational tech review and recommendations for HR tech roadmap as org scales from 300 to 5000. 2021 priorities are HRIS, payroll and compensation and planning for engagement, performance management in 2022
  • Vetting of viable solutions and recommendations for future state architecture
  • Ownership of the procurement and contracting process
  • Implementation of system
  • Communication and driving of user adoption
  • Evaluating feedback from users on experience
  • Move from email queries to online ticketing (Zendesk) system for managing inbound requests to agreed upon SLAs
  • People Analytics & Data Management development of people “BI” dashboards, definition of key metrics in partnership with stakeholders and regular reporting cadence
  • Inclusive of ongoing DEI metrics in partnership with Talent Strategy Leader and DEI council
  • Accountable for data integrity
  • Compliance and Policies accountable for all mandated filings for each jurisdiction (EEO, AAP, Pay Gap Reporting, GDPR (EU expansion) etc), SOC2 HR requirements, ad hoc state requirements (i.e. FFCRA)
  • Manage all ADA requests and documentation
  • Employee file system and ensuring files are complete
  • Manage FMLA related leave and all other types of leave requests
  • Policy design and development in partnership with employment counsel (handbooks, training requirements)
  • Audits
  • Compensation and Benefits ensure that the administration, budgeting, and communication of compensation and benefits programs are well executed and contribute to the overall employee value proposition
  • Periodic benchmarking exercises 
  • Compensation review cycles - manage operational side of reviewing and adjusting comp including reporting and data management
  • Defining benefit programs in each geo and ensuring market competitiveness
  • Annual open enrollment processes and communication
  • Organizational wellbeing strategy design, implementation in partnership with HR business partners, evaluation of programming
  • BAU accountable for ongoing day to day processes and experiences including
  • Onboarding/offboarding
  • Internal transfer documentation
  • Payroll
  • Immigration and mobility (domestic and international)

  • 10-12 years progressive experience leading a people operations function with specific experience in designing and implementing an efficient and effective people operations function for a rapidly scaling organization
  • Experience in needs analysis and strategy design/implementation in a rapidly scaling environment
  • Demonstrated project management skills and a track record of success in bringing highly complex, cross-functional projects to completion
  • Practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balanced by an appreciation for complexity and risk
  • Knowledge of US employment laws and relevant subject matter knowledge including on benefits and immigration. International experience with EMEA and APAC a plus
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships, including recruiting, IT and legal
